What is Athletic Training?
Athletic training encompasses the 预防, 检查, 诊断, 治疗 and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions. At Kent, athletic training is integrated and multidisciplinary. The athletic trainers specialize in five domains:
- Prevention of athletic related injuries
- 识别, evaluation and immediate care of athletic related injuries
- Rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic related injuries
- Health care administration
- Professional development and responsibility.
Our athletic trainers are responsible for 52 teams and 23 sports. We work under the direction and standing orders of a full-time licensed physician who holds regular daily clinic hours. We are also staffed with 护士 that are available twenty-four hours a day.
The sports medicine staff understands that they have been entrusted with the health and well-being of the student-athletes.
Who are 体育教练s?
Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, 急救护理, 临床诊断, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Athletic trainers work under the direction of a physician as prescribed by state licensure statutes.
Athletic trainers are sometimes confused with personal trainers. There is a large difference in the education, 技能, job duties and patients of an athletic trainer and a personal trainer. In the state of Connecticut, ATs must earn a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited athletic training program and pass a certification exam from the National 体育教练s Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).
澳门永利贵宾会 employs two Connecticut licensed, NATABOC-certified 体育教练s. In addition, our sports medicine staff is trained in Basic Life Support (CPR and AED). The sports medicine team is comprised of the school physician, 护士, and certified athletic trainers.
评估, 治疗, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries are performed during the academic day. An injured athlete can set up an appointment with the 体育教练s during a free period or conference period. If the athlete does not have a free period, he/she can call or email the trainers to arrange an appointment. A trainer will be available until the conclusion of all practices and home games.
The athletic training room is located in the Magowan Field House behind Gowan Court.
